As a lawyer, Matt was shocked by the violations of constitutional and civil rights he witnessed during Operation Metro Surge. Rights like due process, freedom of assembly, and protections against unlawful searches apply to everyone and are the bedrock this country is built on. Matt will pass legislation at the state level to help protect Minnesotans from overreach by the federal government.

Rather than increasing health care access, Washington has been moving in the opposite direction—taking health care away from Minnesotans who need it. And why? To fund tax cuts for billionaires and big corporations. While our resources at the state level are more limited, Matt will work to reverse the federal government’s decision to slash health insurance through Medicaid and make up for cancelled Medicare drug plan subsidies that brought down drug prices for seniors.

Never before has federal funding been weaponized like we’ve seen under the current federal administration. These dollars fund care for vulnerable Minnesotans, ground breaking research at the University of Minnesota, and more. Matt will do everything he can to make sure Minnesota gets the funding it’s owed from Washington.
